Rudolph Ogilvie
February 26, 1929 - February 24, 2010
Mr. Albert Rudolph Ogilvie, Age 80 of Barnesville passed away Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at a Spalding County Healthcare Facility. Mr. Ogilvie was preceded in death by his father Mr. Waterman “Buck” Ogilvie and his mother Mrs. Fannie Gladys O’ Kelley Ogilvie. He was raised by his aunt and uncle, Mr. Burl and Mrs. Laura Melton, after his mother passed away at a very young age. He was a member of The Lighthouse Church.

Mr. Albert Rudolph Ogilvie attended college at the Atlanta Business School, then immediately joined the U.S. Air Force, where he served his country faithfully. Upon his returning home from the Air Force, Mr. Ogilvie took a job at the Lamar Drug Company, which he held until a position came open at The First National Bank of Barnesville, where he served the community for 42 years until his Retirement. After his retirement he traveled, and worked with Williams Funeral Home for a number of years. He enjoyed playing the piano, and also doing oil paintings from the time he was a young boy. He was a member of the Kiwanis from 1966 until present, and was a recipient of the Hixson Award. Mr. Ogilvie was a survivor of the Winecoff Hotel fire, and he enjoyed taking part in the March of Dimes drives over the years.

Survivors include - his wife - Betty Ogilvie of Barnesville ; 1 Son- Kelley Ogilvie (& Pamela) of Barnesville ; 3 Daughters - Patti Ogilvie Greenway (& Glenn) of Elberton, Paula Ogilvie Rose (& David) of Barnesville, & Karla Ogilvie Banks (& Charlie) of Barnesville ; 7 Grandchildren ; & 2 Great Grandchildren.

Funeral Services for Mr. Albert Rudolph Ogilvie will be held on Sunday, February 28, 2010 at 2 O’Clock in the Chapel of Williams Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Williams Funeral Home on Saturday, February 27, 2010 from 6pm until 8pm.
