2008 LCCHS / YAP Employer of the Year

On April 17, 2008, Spencer N. Williams of Williams Funeral Home of Barnesville proudly accepted the Award of The 2008 Employer of the Year. This Award was given through the Georgia Youth Apprenticeship Program and Lamar County Comprehensive High School. Williams Funeral Home was one of many local businesses that has partnered this 2008 school year with the High School through the Youth Apprenticeship Program. The funeral home employed two seniors from the High School who were interested in starting a career in Funeral Service. The students were allowed to leave school early to attend work. Through work, they were able to gain valuable on the job experience to better prepare them for their future careers in funeral service. Both of those students will be graduating in the LCCHS Class of 2008 and continuing employment with Williams Funeral Home to serve their Funeral Service Apprenticeships and attend Mortuary College in preparation for their future careers.

These students, Andrew Forsyth and Daren Montessori, nominated Spencer Williams and Williams Funeral Home for the award. The YAP program held their Annual Awards Luncheon at The Ladies Clubhouse dowtown Barnesville, where the Award was presented. This Award is truly an honor for Spencer Williams and Williams Funeral Home of Barnesville.
